Project Overview

XYZ Films contacted S&S because they could not efficiently hold meetings. The acoustics were impeding their business workflow. XYZ needed their office spaces to support clearer communication without compromising the visual character of the environment.

There is a common trend these days of 'bare-bones' modern industrial-style office spaces that accidentally create terrible communal acoustics that induce poor intelligibility, long reverbs and noisy loud environments. These spaces often work against the business interests of their inhabitants.

This project focused on XYZ's conference rooms and high-level executive rooms. These spaces needed to feel polished, professional, and aligned with the company’s creative identity -while also performing better for meetings, calls, and everyday collaborations.

Sense & Sound designed and delivered acoustic treatments that improved speech clarity while becoming part of the office’s visual language. Installed over 2 days on the weekend to avoid disruption to office work.

The Challenge

In corporate offices, poor acoustics often show up in simple but costly ways: unclear conversations, fatiguing conference calls, distracting reflections, and rooms that feel harder to communicate in than they should.

For XYZ Films, the goal was to improve speech intelligibility, conference-call clarity, and day-to-day office communication while preserving and elevating the design of the space.

The rooms needed treatment that looked intentional, not added on.

The Approach

Sense & Sound developed an office-specific acoustic layout for the conference and executive rooms. The treatment strategy combined functional acoustic control with visual integration.

Instead of using generic panels, the solution included poster-style printed acoustic panels and premium fabric acoustic panels, allowing the rooms to perform better while still feeling connected to the identity of a film production company.

The printed panels were designed to serve a dual purpose: acoustic performance and visual storytelling.

The System

A key feature of the project was the ability to update the printed panel designs with new film releases.

This gave XYZ Films a flexible acoustic system that could evolve with the company’s slate. As new projects launched, the room visuals could change without giving up the acoustic benefits of the treatment.

The result is a practical system for a creative office: better communication, better-looking rooms, and acoustic treatment that supports the culture of the company rather than disappearing into the background.

XYZ Films’ conference and executive rooms became clearer, more comfortable spaces for conversation, meetings, and calls.

The acoustic treatments reduced room issues that interfere with speech while supporting the office’s modern industrial design. The printed panels brought the company’s work into the space in a way that felt functional, polished, and easy to update.
